When in doubt, wear red ~ Bill Blass
I’m in recovery mode. Last week the Congressional Black Caucus, as it does every year, took DC by storm. Not only is it a who’s who in politics, it also serves as hunting season for tons of women in the area (myself not included of course). Salons are over booked, you can’t find a decent dress any where because every other black woman is looking for a decent dress and shoes to match of course. Everyone is waiting for the events to officially post, so they can rush to RSVP to them. Yes, I was one of those people this time around. Usually I just stick to working my companies exhibition booth that we’ve had every year at the caucus, but I decided to participate in some of the
parties receptions with my buddy Danielle Belton aka The Black Snob. I swear every IM convo we had leading up to Thursday night, when we headed out to the first reception, was an organizing of the “schedule” in order decide what we were going to wear and where we were going to wear it to.
After looking at the photos from the Phoenix Dinner, attended by the President & First Lady, none of that really even mattered.
Michelle Obama pretty much put every woman to shame in this area, even those women half her age, with her simple elegance, and dare I mention those arms!
Do you see the arms?
A. M. A. Z. I. N. G.!
I don’t even care who designed the dress, because chances are it’s too hefty for my budget, but the red is definitely her color. But of course, I’m sure there’s someone with a negative comment to make about her dress for the evening. More than likely something negative about her body like *gasp* “How dare she show off those perfectly sculpted arms”.
This is where I end this post, and go & grab my free weights.
