What’s Life Like

Scarce is an understatement when it comes to writing anything besides work stuff or book stuff. It’s not that I haven’t had anything to write about, it’s the lack of motivation to actually sit down and construct a sentence. With other writing projects, and the fact that I do have a career & day job, along with an 11 year old, this summer I’ve been stretched in a thousand different directions.

For almost a week, I was caught up in the June Gloom of San Diego. Of course while I’m in California, the weather didn’t rise about 62 degrees and I didn’t see the sun at all. Tone, Toni, Tony lied when they said, “It never rains in Southern California”, because I definitely felt rain in San Diego. Although San Diego was a business trip, I did have some time to enjoy it and met a ton of interesting people, including one of my favorite bloggers/photographers Tafari Stevenson. Hell, I even got felt up by Eric Estrada, but was a little creeped out when he made his scalp move.

My time in San Diego flew by fast, before I knew it, I was on a crowded plane back to Maryland, but I was actually excited about coming home and mainly sleeping in my own bed.

Over the past couple of weeks I’ve learned, through my own actions, that I must stick to my gut instinct, when it comes to involving myself with people, and removing myself from situations. Not to delve into details, but  I truly think people come and exit your life at the most opportune and sometimes inopportune times.  Life has had it bumps over the past couple of weeks, but also there have been people who were able to smooth them out for me, and I definitely appreciate them.  At the end of the day, what’s life like if you’re not learning & evolving, even if it’s with the help of others.

This song has been in my head for the past couple of days, enjoy.

    This is one of my favorite Saadiq songs. The lyrics are simple, but touches on so many lessons in life.

      @Donna L.

      It’s the shortest song on Instant Vintage, but one of the best!

      @kareemah

      I never really think that what I write is helpful, it’s just another outlet for me, when I need to clear my head. But I’m glad you find them helpful! I truly appreciate it!
