White People Attacking Marc Anthony Proves That Some White People Are Not Only Racist But Dumb

tumblr_inline_mq2iubSQRt1qz4rgp

I’m convinced some people should not have access to the internet. As a matter of fact, before a person is granted access to the internet there should be a mandatory test just to make sure they have an IQ higher than a gnat and aren’t racist imbeciles.  Apparently a lot of baseball fans fall into both of those categories.

During the recent  2013 MLB All-Star Game, Marc Anthony took his place on the mound to sing “God Bless America”.   And that’s when people lost their minds.

Mexican?

Not from America? I always wondered why white people think all Latino people are Mexican.

For the record Anthony is an American. Born in New York City to Puerto Rican, and not Mexican, parents. So I wonder since these people have an issue with Anthony singing “God Bless America”, do they also have an issue with the large number of Latino players in Major League Baseball?  Wait, never-mind, they probably think they’re all Mexican too.

The racism and ignorance in the world is magnified by the amount of people with access to the Internet.

The funny and sad thing is these people believe they are right and if you show/tell them they wrong they will argue you to no end. Why does it seem like when a minority does the National Anthem there is some type of outrage? I am not surprise at this it’s the same when they were going after the 12 year old boy.

A friend of mine visited Brazil a few years ago.

When she returned, her white co-workers asked her if the Mexicans (those would be people from Brazil) treated her well.

      Aren’t racists an intelligent tribe?

You say “an intelligent tribe” sarcastically, but how many of us have acquaintances or even family members who conflate these categories?

Like, I’m in Brazil now and a good number of people suggested to me (prior to my departure) that my knowledge of Spanish would come in handy here because, in their minds, Spanish is the language of Brazil. (?)

In response to an article published in the U.S. about the recent murder of the São Paulo rapper MC Daleste, I saw people arguing about whether he was black or Hispanic, as if the terms were mutually exclusive and as if “Hispanic” were a category/self-identification employed in describing Brazilians. (?)

I sometimes even hear U.S. new-reporters–even progressive U.S. new-reporters–using “Hispanic” as if it were a euphemism for or interchangeable with “(undocumented) immigrant.”

“Racism,” as you call it, is a lot more profuse than we may care to admit…

On that note, I have to say I was surprised recently when a kids show on PBS — of all networks — described Brazil as a “Spanish-speaking country.”

        Oh, no.

@ Lynne: While I’ve (unfortunately) had several acquaintances guilty of thinking that Spanish is spoken in Brazil, the other examples refer to discourses in the media–not from my personal life. But if it makes you feel better to call “so many of [my] relatives and acquaintances […] idiots,” do you; whatever tickles your fancy.

As I said, I do think that many of us have relative(s) or acquaintance(s) who are guilty of producing a racist “gaffe” at some point or another. More often than not, racist discourses are covert and thus fly under the radar…

What?! wait, Brazilians and Mexicans are two completely different creatures. Brazilians have afro and Portuguese blood (not all btw) and Mexicans mostly, notcompletely have Spanish/Indian genes. Mexicans speak Spanish, Portuguese speak Portuguese. What person in this day and age would confuse two completely different cultures found into countries so fat away from each other that they could not have any cross cultural influence on themselves. WTF? I think white people will cause their own demise through uneducated uncultured white children.

Oh, White Twitter. Between reports of PoCs doubling and tripling in population and the recent census report about white people dying faster than they can reproduce, these people are having a hard time coping.

And with Fox News feeding them garbage everyday they are also becoming less informed and more stupid as the years roll by. The day of reckoning is upon them and they know it.

The day of reckoning isn’t here fast enough. Keep in mind that whites (globally) don’t mind being outnumbered as long as they OWN, RUN, and CONTROL everything in sight.

Puerto Ricans are Americans, even if they live in Puerto Rico. When did white become synonymous with American? I wonder how many of these people have grandparents who came here by way of Ellis Island? These grandparents really need to tell their grandchildren about how much “Americans” hated Italians, Poles, Greeks, basically everybody when they got here. I guess American history class is really lacking these days.

All I can say is that as bad as the racism of Anglos is, I also hope that those Latinos with anti-black issues wake up and see that they only tend to be loved to the extent that they can be played against blacks. That also goes for us blacks who get sucked into anti-immigration or anti-gay movements.

What anti-immigration movements, specifically? Because illegal immigration affects the Black community most seriously. (real question)

Simone, yes, thank you. I am baffled by the amount of white people here in Utah who think Puertoricans are the same as Mexicans. They don’t know Puertorico is U.S.A. territory. They think it’s the same culture. What a shame so much ignorance in backward states. I am American of Mexican Ancestry, my husband is Puertorican, and people think we have the same customs. So sad how uneducated whites have the loudest voices, but don’t know what they are talking about.

According to these nitwits, Natives should be the only ones singing, “God Bless America” since the white man stole America from them.

Hold on….let’s forget a minute that those comments towards Marc Anthony were racist and ridiculous. Last time I checked the MLB has teams from two countries..Canada and United States. So that being said the songs could be sung technically by someone from either country at minimum. I shake my head at the messed up idea that only certain people can sing a song. Marc Anthony has a wonderful voice. I missed the performance myself but if he sang on point , didn’t mess up the words then there really shouldn’t be an issue at all.

I wish that I could post the link to this video that I’ve seen a few days ago.
In the video, it shows about a group of fifty people staging a protest. The protest is for immigrant reform. The protestors that are shown are white people. They are yelling at the typical BS: “This is our country!” Blah, blah, blah. Then the camera man pans his camera over to a father, who is pushing his daughter in a stroller. The man is Native American.
The father begins yelling at the protesters. He tells them that they are all hypocrites. He tells them that their flag represents the massacre of his people.
As he is yelling at them, the protestors become quiet and leave. LMAO!

Yet I’m certain these people take no issue when the ‘Mexican’, ‘Spaniard’, ‘Latino’ or ‘UnAmerican’ is batting in homeruns/grand slams, stealing third base, striking out batters or making incredible saves for their favorite team.
Many of the players whom they deem to ‘get out of my country’ are American like Marc Anthony and share a similar background….an American background.
I refuse to give them an excuse of no exposure to people who do not look like them. I’ve never been exposed to a shark but you darn certain I know, understand and am aware that is a creature I shouldn’t make contact with… You’d have to be in some sorta cyber sleeping chamber for 400+ years to NOT realize creatures on this planet DO NOT all look the same!

I’m so tired of some people’s warped vision of “who” is really American. I’m not even a fan and new he was Puerto Rican and from NY. This country has never ever been 100% white, so why not appreciate the diversity? It is ignorant to assume all Hispanics are 1) illegal and 2) Mexican. It really takes a very narrow-minded person to do that. I notice a lot of racists toss the term Mexican around a lot to label any person who is hispanic. No one ever taught these fools about Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic, Central America, and South America?

However, I do hope that some hispanics who have chosen to dislike or distance themselves from blacks to appeal more to whites see that some people aren’t such a fan of them either.

I’m not entirely surprised; between this Marc Anthony issue, the Zimmerman verdict and today’s speech by President Obama, it appears that trolls and ignorant people are out in major force this week, spewing the foolishness. I’m sure many of them thought/still think that Obama was born in Kenya.

Unfortunately, their thinking is so limited that there’s no talking to them to educate or convince them otherwise. It’s not worth it.

A couple things. Let’s stop using the word minority. It is a tool of racism for us to believe we are outnumbered. Although, I believe Marc being Puerto Rican is of African descent, by all appearances he is white. The irony happens when racist whites exclude other “ethnic” caucasians. Do they not realize how much of a minority they are if they exclude Mediterraneans, eastern Europeans, Northern Africans, Middle Easterners, white Latinos, and west Asians? All of whom are considered Caucasian. Italians weren’t considered white until maybe the 1970s. New York used to have signs that said “No dogs or Irish”. Half, if not more of the U.S. was part of Latin America.

    Sigh…..Why even bother.
