NYC Mother Accused of Killing Son In a Restaurant Bathroom

article-toddler-0330

A 35-year-old mother has been charged with killing her 20-month-old son in a burger restaurant’s bathroom. Latisha Fisher was seen walking into the restaurant’s bathroom with her son while her hand was over his mouth. A witness said Fisher told them she put her hand over his mouth to put him to sleep.

As a line formed at the bathroom, customers became concerned and employees forced their way inside. The boy was found unconscious and foaming at the mouth.

From NY Daily News:

“I would describe her as soulless,” a law enforcement official said when asked if the mom seemed distraught. “She put her hand over his mouth and smothered him.”

Another sickened police source said: “She is a lunatic. She is crazy.”

Gavriel was rushed to Bellevue Hospital, where he died, cops said. The mother was taken into custody at the scene. Charges against her were pending early Tuesday.

“It’s hard, it’s really unbelievable. I know my daughter loves her son,” said the boy’s maternal grandmother, Merial Fisher, 54, as the fought back tears. “I don’t know what happened. It’s just so sad.”

Of Gavriel, she said: “He was such a happy baby.”

Neighbors have described Fisher as erratic and violent. Apparently Fisher has already had an older child taken from her custody.

“She needs help. It doesn’t make sense,” neighbor Carolyn Lawson, 47, told the Daily News. “I think she was on medication for whatever problem she had, but I’m assuming she wasn’t taking her meds.”

“He was a beautiful baby. He was very happy. Oh my God,” one neighbor who didn’t want to give her name told the Daily News. “I just brought him a stuffed animal the other day. A little bunny with some chocolate, for Easter.”

Wow she already had one taken and then had another. Who was the father of these children?

Why would she smother her own child in such a cold and soulless way? I believe that answers your question.

Actually it does. Look up psych cases about incidents like this, as well as Postpartum Depression. If the father is absent, and the son looks anything like the father, there’s a probability that some anger/retaliation may be channeled to the child. But this woman has a history of bearing children subjected to high risk environments; with no father in sight. She clearly has a serious problem.

Yes, but I asked who was the father.

Okay, cool. I’m basically saying he’s absent. I don’t think they’re going to print his name.

      That’s an excellent question.

    RIP to the child.

The mother obviously has issues. It is truly disturbing to read the story about a mother killing her own son. The little child will never have a chance to live his life. There has to be accountability here. Facts must be shown and the mother, who smothered her child, has to face accountability for her own actions.

Its cases like this that make me believe in sterilization policies. She’s another demon undeserving of producing life.

“…believe in sterilization policies. …undeserving of producing life.”

Agree — This should never have had a chance to happen — As a result of being “erratic and violent” and because Fisher had “…already had an older child taken from her custody…”
