Madame Tussauds recently unveiled a Nicki Minaj wax figure in a provocative pose, which had many people wondering, ‘why’? The pose, which was from the Anaconda video, now has museum attendees interacting with it in sexual ways. Tussauds, who is full to blame for this, released a statement about the statue:

“We have been made aware of the inappropriate photograph that was taken at Madame Tussauds Las Vegas, involving Nicki Minaj’s new wax figure…It is unfortunate that this visitor decided to behave so inappropriately and we apologize for any offense this has caused. We do have staff monitoring guest behavior in the attraction and do our utmost to ensure our wax figures are treated respectfully, but on this occasion clearly one of our hosts was not present.”

Although Minaj seems to be ok with being an objectified wax figure, fellow rapperA zealia Banks criticized the figure: “As much as that woman has accomplished, they had to put her on all fours… Why not standing up with a mic in her hand? All people are gonna do is go up to that statue and take pictures shoving their crotch in her face and putting their crotch on her butt.”

Banks believes the statue is another example of how white people see black artists.

Some people want to objectify women and that’s wrong. Some people need to know that standing up for integrity, helping the community, being more revolutionary is a whole lot better than acting perverted with a wax statue.

Sadly, this is unsurprising. You just knew this was coming the minute they decided the Nicki figure would be shown in that pose. It’s amazing how many people just don’t know how to act.

Did the museum make this choice alone? Nicki seems to have total control of her image. Being that she, at some point provided pictures for this purpose. Also, Nicki would have “full” approval of such.

In my mind this would be a very “Nicki” thing to do!

Surely no one, an I mean no here thinks she wasn’t aware of the final product?

ITA–Nikki objectifies herself. She plastered hundreds of cardboard cutouts of her spread butt cheeks on the steps of an European cathedral, this doggy style wax figure is tame in comparison. Some folks really need to stop looking to be offended–i like Azealia’s music but that girl seems paranoid at times.

Actually, the museum did come to this decision on its own. They don’t require or solicit input from celebrities before creating the wax figures. Nicki is on record tweeting her surprise and pleasure at seeing the figure for the first time when it was unveiled earlier this month.

Hmmm maybe. But she was pleased all the same.

Agreed; such a provocative & explicit pose will garner the attention in which it is currently getting.

Sadly, the images she allows to be put out there today will most likely haunt her tomorrow. She’ll complain, in her older age, that she was objectified and can’t understand why people cannot appreciate her past ‘artistic’ accomplishments.

    Here’s my take on this.

Yes, Nicki does use her body provocatively in her art/career by choice…

BUT, aren’t we (women) the same ones who go, “I don’t care if Halle Barry walked around butt naked, that doesn’t give anyone the right to violate her!”

That statement should apply to disrespecting images of her. She may have been on all fours in her videos, but she was never being accosted, never asking men to walk up to her & randomly put their hands on her, never doing anything against her will. I know this is just a wax statue, but the fact that someone is willing to manhandle a mannekin b/c he thinks the mannekin won’t fight back speaks to a larger issue of people thinking that the main problem with women is that they complain so much about how they’re treated. The hidden perversion of some dudes is what puts us all at risk everyday. If I knew this guy in real life, I’d be keeping my distance.

My point is that the excuse of what she does in front of a camera justifies what these dudes do to her likeness is no different than blaming a woman who wears skimpy clothes for being raped. Call the pervert out. Not the woman who never asked to be manhandled by a stranger.

I think they could have picked a much better pose for Nicki Minaj’s wax figure. Kim Kardashian’s wax figure isn’t on her back so why is Nicki’s one on all fours. Just because Nicki is okay with it doesn’t mean this image is okay in general. We all know Nicki Minaj is problematic when it comes to what she feels what is empowering and objectifying especially when she explains the Anaconda video.

The figure sums up Nicki perfectly in a nutshell. And I don’t doubt that she approves of it and the pictures people are taking with it. She’s trained people in that way. It’s always funny when people put on airs after the fact. A lot of delusional people out there.

Banks called this one. Sadly, that picture above is tame compared to the pictures floating around on other websites. Also, may I say that something about the wax figure’s face is off? They missed some of Nicki’s facial features.

They had a ton of images they could have chosen from. Remember all of the crazy costumes she used to wear?
