MoveOn.Org Endorses Bernie Sanders

Screen Shot 2016-01-12 at 10.55.17 AMMoveOn.Org feels the ‘Bern’. The liberal grassroots organization has announced its endorsement of Sen. Bernie Sanders.

The organization says it was prompted to endorse Sanders because it was supported by 78.6 percent of its membership in an online vote of more than 340,000 members. Hillary Clinton came in second and Martin O’Malley came in last.

“MoveOn members are feeling the Bern,” said Ilya Sheyman, executive director of Political Action. “We will mobilize aggressively to add our collective people power to the growing movement behind the Sanders campaign, starting with a focus on voter turnout in Iowa and New Hampshire.”

In 2008, MoveOn endorsed President Barack Obama, and helped rally Democrats in opposition to the Iraq War. Last year it also encouraged Sen. Elizabeth Warren to run for president, but she declined when many of the members said they would back Sanders.

    I’m not shocked. Bernie Sanders is very popular among many people. It is odd that Hillary Clinton now is against the single payer healthcare plan of Bernie and made the false statement that single payer healthcare as advocated by Sanders would cut SCHIP (which is a great program) and all aspects of health care in general in America.

      @Mary Burrell

      me to Mary, I keep forgetting about how Bill Clinton’s actions led to the incarnation of so many black men during the 90s and 00s. I wasn’t going to vote, and they are sleeping on Bern, but he is gonna creep up and bite the naysayers!

          that’s a key state . . . i just hope he wins. I think the young vote will be in his favor, just like it was for B.O.

            Good Afternoon Sister,

            Iowa is a very important state in the causes. Sanders wants to win Iowa and New Hampshire. Hillary Clinton wants to win South Carolina, Nevada, and other states. Most people who are 45 or younger support Sanders over Hillary. So, it is a generational thing to a certain extent. The increasing number of attacks by Hillary signals to me that the Clinton campaign is taking Bernie Sanders seriously.

              good evening Brotha,

              Yes, i know Ohio is another key state as is Florida, but i beleive they are red, at least Florida, i remember last election, it was a mess, but i was thrilled at the outcome.

              I think he is the one, he seems to truly care, but they all talk a good game to get to the oval office, but i’ll give him my vote. I agree (generational thing), and i feel strongly that will give Sanders the edge. People are feeling the “Bern.”

              Enjoy the rest of your evening and hope your day was gr8.

                Thank you for your words Sister.

                During this time, a wide spectrum of people are rejecting establishment politics. People are doing this since history has shown us that centrist policies by their very nature aren’t revolutionary. There has been huge crowds in the rallies of Sanders. I’m from Virginia. We used to be red for decades. Now, we’re blue. The campaign will be close and Bernie Sanders has resonated with numerous human beings. We want health care available for all. We reject the policies from the War on Drugs. We want real change.

                My day has been great. Enjoy the rest of your evening too.
