Kamala Harris Announces California U.S. Senate Run

Kamala Harris, California’s state attorney general, formally declared her bid for Senate on Tuesday. Harris is running for The U.S. Senate seat being vacated by Barbara Boxer. She will enter the race as the perceived front-runner for the state’s first open Senate seat in more than two decades.

“I’m excited to share with you that I’m launching my campaign to represent the people of California in the United States Senate,” she said in a message to supporters posted on her campaign website. “I will be a fighter for the next generation on the critical issues facing our country. I will be a fighter for middle class families who are feeling the pinch of stagnant wages and diminishing opportunity. I will be a fighter for our children who deserve a world-class education, and for students burdened by predatory lenders and skyrocketing tuition. And I will fight relentlessly to protect our coast, our immigrant communities and our seniors.”

National Democrats nodded at Harris’ announcement but did not offer an official endorsement.

“With strong candidates like Kamala Harris, Democrats remain confident that we’ll hold this seat and continue Barbara Boxer’s long history of fighting for California,” said Justin Barasky, communications director for the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee, in a statement. “The DSCC will continue to monitor the California Senate race closely.”

Funniest thing was when President Obama had to appologies because he made comments about her being a “very” attractive woman.

Since he will be on the way out soon, in the future, instead of calling her the best looking attorney general, he say she is the prettiest senator!

Seriously, Harris has some serious credentials, and since she is half Indian, hopefully she can fire up Asian voters too.

But he wasn’t asked to apologize when he called a white politician beautiful!

She has made great accomplishments. Kamala Harris is a total professional. Whether people agree with her politics or not, she has every right to run for the U.S. Senate. She introduced the California Homeowner’s Bill of Rights in the California legislature, which is a great thing. She has prosecuted polluters too. I wish her he best.
