Heartbreaking! Pregnant Woman & Boyfriend Killed A Week Before She Was to Give Birth

New Orleans police are asking for the public’s help in locating the killer of a couple just a week before their child was supposed to be born.

Breon Stewart and her boyfriend Lionel Delpit III were shot multiple times while they sat in a car outside of their apartment complex Wednesday night. Stewart was nine months pregnant, and both she and Delpit died at the scene.

Stewart’s mother, Nicole Stewart, said the couple did not deserve to die.

“She didn’t deserve it. He didn’t deserve it. My grand baby didn’t deserve it,” she said.

Keenan Lewis, Delpit’s brother-in-law and a player with the New Orleans Saints, described Lionel as a “loving guy” who couldn’t wait for his son–who the couple were planning to name Lionel Delpit IV–to be born.

“A loving, caring guy, all about his family, you know, gave his life to God. Anybody who ever knew him knew he always kept a smile on his face,” Lewis said. “Every day he used to come by the house talking about he couldn’t wait ‘til his son come along and, you know, teach him the things that he know – the [Mardi Gras] Indian dances and all that stuff.”

Police believe the couple could have been targeted, but are still storing through tips from witnesses. Breon’s mother, however, did not know why anyone would want to harm her daughter.

“Oh my baby, she was just this big. What could she do? She was so beautiful. They took my life away from me,” Stewart said.

According to her family, Stewart was the valedictorian of her high school class, and was about to graduate with a nursing degree from Delgado Community College. She leaves behind a twin sister, who had also just given birth to a little girl. The sisters were “inseparable” and both families were excited about Baby Lionel’s birth.

New Orleans police are asking anyone with information about the murders call to call Crimestoppers at (504) 822-1111.

    What a sad story.

The criminal or criminals involved in their deaths should be brought to justice. This couple should have been happy and left alone. I feel for the families and friends of the couple. Murder is a total evil. Both human beings were happy over the upcoming birth of their child. I feel a sense of sorrow and the preciousness of human life is important to recognize. While we’re here on this Earth, we have to learn lessons and focus on bettering ourselves and the lives of others.

RIP Breon Stewart and her boyfriend Lionel Delpit III

What a sad story. I don’t think that they were targeted, but I guess they were shot because they were sitting in their car at night
The crooks must have mistook them for someone else.
Still, it doesn’t changes the fact that these shootings, – at the hand of other Black people no less! – need to come to an end.
My condolences goes to both their families.

These types of senseless murders are tragically too commonplace in this society where easy access to guns and prevailing lack of value for life too often are hand in hand. It takes no effort to pull the trigger and seemingly even less effort to consider the damage done. As stated by a suspect who fired into a moving car and killed a woman in Cleveland on her 41st birthday on The First 48 when asked why he fired at the car “I can’t tell you, I don’t even know.”

We have a disease of unfettered violence in this country and if we don’t start addressing it, it’s going to swallow us up.

This is so unbelievably tragic. These neighborhoods are active war zones and here are more innocent casualties of war. My heart goes out to their families and it’s right before Xmas too 🙁
