Bill Cosby’s troubled year just got a whole lot worse. On Wednesday, the legendary comedian was formally charged with second degree aggravated indecent assault for the 2004 alleged rape of Andrea Constand.
Constand, a former Temple University employee, came forward more than a decade ago to accuse Cosby of drugging and assaulting her, but a Pennsylvania prosecutor refused to indict the actor at the time. Constand then sued Cosby in civil court where he admitted to giving women quaaludes for sex.
This year, nearly four dozen women have come forward to accuse Cosby of sexual assault, but in most cases the statute of limitations have run out, making a criminal prosecution impossible. However, Constand’s case falls within 12-year statute of limitations for the state of Pennsylvania.

A fragile-looking Cosby appeared in court this afternoon flanked by his attorneys, wearing a gray hoodie and using a cane. The judge set his bail at $1 million, and he was then ushered to a local police station to be fingerprinted and have his mugshot taken.
Well, here it is, the Bill Cosby mugshot. This image now joins that of Cliff Huxtable in the Cosby iconography. pic.twitter.com/5at8PPi8pd
