A pizza parlor in New York City is at the center of controversy after they made the poor decision to debut an overtly racist menu item for the month of August.
Pizza by Certe is a popular eatery located in midtown Manhattan and they received the publicity of the lifetime for all the wrong reasons this week. While visiting the restaurant, a customer shared this photo of their new menu item called “pic-a-nika” pizza on social media and as you might have guessed, it was all downhill from there.
As is customary these days when people intentionally do racist and get publicly exposed, the restaurant quickly removed the menu item and issued a lengthy apology to those who were offended.
Uh, apology not accepted. Can you REALLY not see the blatant racism in a menu item that features the phrase “pic-a-nika” and includes watermelon, friend chicken and sunflower seeds? We highly doubt it.
Clearly this restaurant has yet to learn the power of social media….or yet to get the memo that tolerance for publicly racist antics has become virtually non-existent in the Black community at this point.

The “apology should not be appreciated nor accepted. These people are racist to the core and they know very well what they are doing. The “apology” is a printed statement that they simply copy, that’s why they are so good at it. The racial atmosphere in this country – all over the country – is truly sickening, which damages the psyche and well-being of a very large population who have been and continue to be important contributors to this country.

This! I am so sick and tried of these damn apologizes because we know that the majority of them are not sincere. Honestly, I would respect them if they stood behind their actions/words instead of back peddling. I rather deal with the devil I know so I know who not to support and give my time, energy and money too and clearly this restaurant isn’t it so they can take their apology and that unappealing pizza and shove it.

Amen.

Now, people know about the restaurant, so folks should not buy anything from it. Actions have consequences. They knew exactly what they were doing when they used that overtly racist menu item. These bigots don’t care about the sensibilities and humanity of black people, so we should disregard that apology as a token measure of them being caught (not as a sincere action). Racism is a notorious evil. We have the right to fight it and defend our honor and our human dignity as black people. Our black people made great contributions and we will never tolerate disrespect and an evil menu item at all.

well said, i bet they did that as ploy to generate controversy so that it could drive in customers, people these days love it; i hope it backfires for them and it looks disgusting anyways, i wouldn’t dream of trying that gook.

Good Afternoon Sister. ๐ Ye shall what you shall sow is my response to that restaurant. I’m glad that black social media has used it power to make known of this, so those, who created that racist menu, can be held accountable for their nefarious actions. The food does look disgusting. LOL. One thing about us as black people, we know how to throw down as it pertains to food. ๐
That’s real talk.

LOL, this is a joke. Only a fool would be appeased by that apology, since what it’s actually saying is “we had no idea our stupid-as-shit, plain-as-can-be, racist-as-the-day-is-long fuckery would be obvious to everyone else too…oops, our bad, sorry you’re not all as dumb as we imagined”. FOH with that.

I thought this was a stupid prank when I saw the story on
PIX11 news. So I called the joint and found it to be true. First off, anyone that would put that ish in their body may need their stomachs pumped, it looks dangerous! Secondly, I think the management knew exactly what they were doing with this promo and how offensive it would be. It seems as though their arrogance took a nose dive thanks to the BLM movement.
Apparently, Pizza by Certe has good pizza, even though itโs a tourist trap.
Regardless, I think itโs foolish for them to jeopardize the business
over a stunt like this.
Pizzerias are a dime-a-dozen in NYC and I can almost guarantee
that if the management named that Pizzaโ pic-a-kike-aโ,
or any other condescending slur, they would be out of business, no question.
