Windy City Here I Come

Lately, I really haven’t had much time to write anything pertinent to my life or about anything that concerned me. These past couple of weeks I’ve been pretty much occupied with producing Basseyworld Live, and hanging out, A LOT. Basseyworld Live was a huge success! But the show doesn’t stop in DC, it’s only getting started. Up next, Bassey Ikpi is heading to the city of brotherly love, Freeway beards and cheese steaks. We’re Philly bound! If you’re reading my blog, and asking yourself, “Who’s Bassey Ikpi?”, do yourself a favor and google her. She’d be the first to tell you that she’s very googleable!  I also want to send a  huge thanks to Paul Carrick Brunson, Helena Andrews, Shabooty Stern and Danielle Belton for being our first panel! They definitely represented!  Everything from relationships to politics were discussed and the audience participation was tremendous!  Although there were a few bumps in the road getting to the opening day, everything worked itself out. Basseyworld Live has shown me that there are people out there that are willing to always offer their help. With that said, without Rebecca, from MacNeice Films, offering to be our videographer for the night, we would have been assed out. She did what most people wouldn’t have thought of doing, for two complete strangers, so we definitely appreciate her help! Be on the look out for Basseyworld Live, the show will be in Philly, Chicago, NYC and Atlanta!

As the title states, I’m heading to Chicago tomorrow evening for a week. Although it’s more of a workcation, it’s a welcomed break from this area. I always say the one good thing about my job is that I get to travel, and this time is no different. I’m definitely looking forward to hanging out with Afrobella, Luvvie and Darius (he owes me dinner & cupcakes), after my work day ends of course.

In any event, posts have been scarce around these parts, but as my new friend Al Letson told me the other day, “..can’t be a good writer without going through the living part, it’s the fuel for good words”, with that said, I’m living.

Happy Birthday to Stevie Wonder!

Aww shucks! Welcome to the Midwest! I wish you were coming to Chicago in the fall, though. I plan on moving up there then. For now, I’m stuck a few hours south. Hope you get to fully enjoy your work-cation, and save room for cupcakes!

So glad the show was a success!!! Is the show coming to North Carolina at all? Georgia? That would make me extremely happy!
