A few weeks ago, I saw “The Hangover” staring Bradley Cooper, Ed Helms, Zach Galifianakis, Justin Bartha, and Heather Graham. The film is about four friends who travel to Las Vegas for a bachelor party only to wake up the next day missing the groom and not remembering a thing that happened. Not to give away the whole story line, I’ll definitely say it’s a must see film.
If you haven’t read already, I celebrated my birthday earlier this month in St. Thomas, so I get a chance to celebrate it with my friends in the DC area. I was pretty much content with having my memories from St. Thomas, and didn’t put much thought into doing anything once I was back in the area. Well, at the last minute on Saturday, that changed. A friend was in town from NYC, so I gathered up a few other girlfriends and we decided to go out for a few drinks.
Hence, the title of this blog “The Hangover”!
Our first stop was Chi-Cha Lounge for tapas, hookah and a drink. Eventually we made our way to Pure Lounge (formerly known as Bar Nun) for a few more drinks, which turned into several drinks and shots, courtesy of one of DC’s men in blue, who was all too content in buying us drink after drink. Of course we didn’t turn down his offer, a man who’s eager to buy a woman drinks, better yet a group of women, doesn’t come around too often.
Needless to say, at the end of the night, my girlfriends and I were a bunch of hot drunken messes. When the designated driver, who doesn’t drink, is drunk, you have a problem on your hands. Thankfully everyone made it safely home without incident. I truly think the nail in the coffin, that sent me over the edge was the shot ( I still don’t know what type of liquor it was). All I know is, is that once I got home, I was sitting on the edge of my bed, and my mouth immediately got watery and I rushed into the bathroom, slide into home-base (the toliet) and had my head in the bowl emptying my system. The last time something like that happened was in college and this time the feeling was 10xs worst.
Eventually, I was able to make it to the bed and surprisingly woke up by 9 a.m. Now, just because I was ‘up’ at 9 a.m doesn’t mean I was mentally ‘up’. My houseguest & I dragged ourselves to the grocery store to pick up breakfast items, and ended up settling in my living room on the sofas for the rest of the day. We were DONE. No energy, no motivation. All we could do was laugh about the night before and nap.
So now I’m sitting in my office, when technically I should be working, but my brain will not allow me to function. I think this whole month long birthday celebration as definitely exhausted me, but it’s not over yet! I’m heading home this week to visit some friends in the NJ/NYC area, so once again, I’m sure there will be drinks & debauchery galore!
