I’m 34 years old today and I thank god every day when I look in the mirror, that I don’t look life beaten, used and worn out like some of the funky smelling chicks out there in the world. “Black don’t crack”, well neither does brown, beige, taupe, or whatever color some people have referred to me as and I’m thankful for the genes that I’ve inherited.
I’m pretty much looking forward to my 34th year. The Black Snob and myself are working on some big things over the next few months and hopefully I’ll be able to talk about them more as time goes along. She’s truly been a huge motivation and I’m glad to call her a friend. Unlike a lot of back biting “black” woman bloggers out there, I have to say the ones that I’ve met over the past couple of months have truly become great friends of mine. Afrobella, Luvvie, Stylin-Profilin, Chic Modern Vintage, Lola Gets Life and a few others, are definitely people that I’m glad to have had the opportunity to met offline. Unfortunately, there’s always going to be a funky smelling, rotten apple in the bunch that’ll attempt to ruin the fun, but needless to say, there’s always going to be others that have your back, so better luck next time.
All in all, the most important lesson I’ve learned this year is that there are certain things worth fighting for, and others, well you let karma handle it. My favorite motto has always been, “I put karma in motion”, so to the speed bumps I’ve encountered this year, what comes around, goes around 🙂
As far as birthday plans, unlike last year, there won’t be any white sandy beaches and crystal clear water on the beaches of St. Thomas. I’m spending my birthday back home in the NJ/NYC area this weekend.
On my 34th year and 4th day (Sunday), I’m sure I’ll be physically exhausted, but in the end, it will all be worth it! A huge thanks to the people who take a moment out of their day to read my site (even the lurkers, esp the ones who know me). Whether we share the same opinion or not, I value everyones.
