Friday Asides Pt. 4: Sharing is Caring

Yesterday I received several new websites from everyone in regards to adding to my procrastination and I want to thank all of you! I’ve definitely discovered a lot of new favorites! So with that said, I’ll share some of my own as well.

One of my favorite reads in the blogosphere has always been “The Field-Negro” and yesterday while I was reading his blog, I came across this post, “Sarah Get Your Gun”, in reference to Sarah Palin and her pregnant teen daughter. It is definitely read worthy, so go ahead and click away.

I mentioned a few posts back that I was offered a bi-weekly editorial column and it went live this week! Mahogany Butterfly has always been one of my favorite websites that cater to black women and when I was approached by the founder and Editor-In-Chief, Nicole, I was excited about the opportunity! Not only was Mahogany Butterfly created during a time when there were few outlets for women of color online, it was also created by a fellow Rutgers University alum! So here’s my first contribution to the site, “Black in Corporate America: The Real Story”, make sure you take a minute to check it out!

Speaking of talented black women, my good friend Yashieka has new fall inventory at her online boutique, Aux Pieds De Shoes & Accessories. Yashieka’s boutique caters to women who wear a size 10 or larger in shoes. The shoes are high quality and fashionable at the same time. Alot of the shoes even go up to a size 13 which is unheard of nowadays!

With a new pair of fall shoes, you’ll definitely want a nice pair of jeans to go along with them. Now, personally, I have a hard time trying to find jeans with long inseams. Usually I’m in either a 34′ inseam or a 36′ inseam, depending on the heels I’m wearing. A few weeks ago, I came across PZI Jeans not only do they cater to tall women, but they’re specifically made for women with curves and ample ASSets! My younger sister was my guinea pig for these jeans because she’s a little more ample in the hip area than I am. When I saw her the other day I was “SOLD”! The jeans fit her perfectly!  So I had to go out and order a pair of my own. When I say perfection, I mean it. The jeans fit perfectly in the hip and butt area, they were made perfectly for me!

The weekend is here and I’m definitely looking forward to relaxing in doors, especially due to all of the rain that is heading to the Maryland area! So I’ll be heading to the bookstore with the kid later on and picking up some new weekend reading! Have a safe weekend as usual and I’ll see you on Monday!

    About PZI: I’m looking at the site now and checking out the size chart. I just measured myself and according to PZI, I should order a size 8. I haven’t worn a size 8 in YEARS, okay. Now I see they say that their jeans are “Missy fit designed for a contoured fit unlike no other” (which is grammatically incorrect, but whatever). Did you have to change sizes to get your perfect fit? Or am I just bugging and measuring myself incorrectly?

      @Bourgie, Esq

      I measured a size smaller than what I usually wear…For ex. my sister usually wears a size 12, but she has a pretty small waist, so when she called and spoke to someone there, they told her to order a 10 and they fit perfectly. So I’m assuming they run a size larger than what’s stated on the site.

    I have two pair of PZI jeans. I love them, but the second pair stretched just a little after I bought them, but they still look great. Fits a black body well!

    So PZI isn’t an urban myth?! I was kind of skeptical, because all of the jeans that were supposed to be made for small waist big hipped girl (Applebottoms, ugh!) were just fakers!! I’m gonna have to check them out 🙂
