A Birmingham mom is demanding answers after her two-year old daughter returned from Erdington’s Little Ripley Nursery with one of her braids removed and placed in an envelope.

Shantal, a healthcare assistant at Edgbaston’s QE Hospital, was called to the nursery back in August and was informed that her daughter had lost one of the cornrows.

“When I found out, I was really worried that someone had tampered with my daughter’s hair,” said Shantal told ITV. “The hair is not easy to pull out, yet it has been removed so cleanly. It’s almost as if it has been waxed. The only way it would have dropped out is if Malaya had a medical condition and even if she did, it would come out in patches. I’ve been to the doctors, and there’s nothing wrong with Malaya.”

Soon after the strange incident, Shantal removed her daughter from the school, who had been at Little Ripley since she was nine months old.

The case of the missing braid remains a mystery since the nursery has yet to outline exactly what happened.

A spokesman for the school had only this to say – “This is highly confidential and there will be no comment. Procedure has been followed and everything is complete. That is all I can say.”

My first guess was that the girl did it to herself or that some little boy was at fault. I gave myself a haircut when I was little. My mother still has the braid (LOL), but we’re talking about toddlers here, and I would side-eye any nursery school letting toddlers play with scissors. This is very mysterious, indeed.

There are a half a dozen things that could have happened to this child that arent “the careworker cut her braid off” (and I think it’s weird they went to a doctor to rule out diseases that would make her hair fall out. It wouldnt be my first suspicion as a parent.) The super weird thing is that you would send it home in an envelope of hair with no explanation. *That* is messed up.

The mother deserves answers. There is a whole list of possibilities of why her daughter’s braid was removed. If it was removed by an abusive act, then the person responsible for it should be held accountable. It is certainly distressing for the mother to not find out the reason why her daughter’s braid was gone. To send a braid in an envelope without a great explanation of what happened is truly sad. I’m glad that the mother put her daughter out of that nursery. It’s a unique mystery.

It’s mildly creepy and definitely strange…for some reason I giggled a little bit as I read the article, like why is the nursery being so shady over a braid? What’s really hood, Little Ripley?? But as a parent I would’ve been disturbed
