Viola Davis looked stunning at the 2015 People’s Choice Awards held at the Nokia Theatre L.A. Live on Wednesday in Los Angeles.
The gorgeous actress took home the People’s Choice Award for Favorite Actress In A New TV Series for her work on How to Get Away with Murder.
In her acceptance speech, Viola snapped back at the New York Times article that stated she was “older, darker-skinned and less classically beautiful” than lighter-skinned actresses.
“Thank you Shonda Rhimes, Betsy Beers, and Peter Nowalk for thinking of a leading lady who looks like my classic beauty.”

I agree with Viola. I wonder, though, how many of us haven’t had our opportunity to shine, because someone thought our abilities were tied to our likeness to the European standard of beauty or lack thereof. Its a sober thought in ..what is this…2015 ?

Certainly, Viola Davis, who has refuted the words from the haters, is inspirational. Everybody knows that she is beautiful, intelligent, and resilient.

She said, that you Shonda Rhimes, Besty Beers, and Peter Norwalk of thinking of a leading lady that looks like my kind of CLASSIC BEAUTY.
lol. Clap back of epic proportions. This is how ALL black women should bring it to those who want to keep this code of White is only beautiful and deserves to be recognized ONLY nonsense. 2015 is the year of change and the year that all black women DEMAND their respect because Black women and Black Beauty is NOT GOING anywhere.

I’m glad Viola Davis had chance to throw those stupid words back the face of the NYT writer. The white beauty standard is a loser for black women because fairest “redbone” will come short to a genuine white woman. The only standard any woman needs to match is her own.

Viola is beautiful to me, not “less classically beautiful” than Kerry Washington, Sandra Bullock or any other Hollywood starlet…glow girl!
