Real Housewives of Atlanta’s Kenya Moore to Lupita Nyong’o “Girl Bye”

Screen Shot 2015-01-14 at 11.27.22 AM

Kenya Moore, “Real Housewives of Atlanta” star took to Twitter to allege that Oscar winner Lupita Nyong’o rejected her request for a photo at a 2015 Golden Globes after party. According to Bravo, while Kenya mixed and mingled with some of Hollywood’s elite, she spotted the 12 Years a Slave star and asked her for a picture, but the Oscar winner declined.

See the tweets below:

When one of Kenya’s followers asked if there was any previous issues between them, Kenya replied, “no I was a huge fan!!!! There were 1000 A listers being humble,” she wrote. “it was disappointing that’s all. I want 2 always stay humble.”

Well, it was Lupita’s choice as to whether she wanted to take a picture. While it might be rude, at least Lupita wasn’t fake about it. Who knows what was up.

For me, I don’t think it was rude for Lupita to turn down the opportunity. Actually, I don’t think it is a sign of rudeness, if any celeb says ‘No’.
When it comes to a certain sect of the “average people”, I think they have managed to fool themselves into thinking that celebrities are not human beings. They are objects; they are animatronic objects that were created to entertain us and fulfill our desires (for example, take a photo or to sign an autograph).

I heard about this incident off of an internet forum and like most forums the topic shifted from talking about the alleged snub to discussing how arrogant Africans are towards AAs. At that point, I had given the screen the “x” treatment.
Now, my take off of this situation is I don’t believe Kenya at all. For the past three years (I don’t know how long she has been on that show), she has been using her talent of embellishing in order to get paid. And for Kenya, any attention (whether if it is good or bad) that she receives is good for her.

I agree with you. I’m sure Lupita was probably well aware of Kenya’s antics on RHOA, ad didn’t want to be part of her attempt at grabbing more publicity.

      @Michelle

Michelle, my feelings exactly. She’s always trying to use anyone and anything that she thinks can give her a boost up the ladder. I wouldn’t want my name tied to hers in anyway, just like Lupita. Had the shoe been on the other foot, I feel that Kenya would have done the same to her.

This may come off as somewhat sexist, but it is too bad that Kenya has not stayed quiet in recent years. For a long time she was known for simply being physically gorgeous. The more she talks, and especially since reality TV has become her means of living, she has become a “mess magnet,” which kills the beauty of her face and figure in my eyes.

She’s reality TV gold though; pretty to look at and a “mess magnet”! She may retire from those reality TV checks! It’s all she has (as far as I know), right?

Sadly, after she retires from those checks, her ruined image and her messiness will be her legacy. At least Vanessa Williams was able to build a legitimate career in spite of those ‘scandalous’ photos, which compared to today’s ‘scandalous’ antics, are nothing.

I used to admire Kenya as a child. I remember when she won Miss USA. Her attitude reminds me of all the celebs I was excited to cross paths with as a preteen who were horrible. Jasmine Guy, Phylicia Rashad, Dr. Dre, Kobe…list goes on and on… Nothing surprises me anymore. After a while, you stop running up to them like they are special.

I never knew anything about her until she came on this Housewives show. The only Miss USA I remember was Jayne Kennedy and she was a real doll and so polite. Nothing like Kenya and way prettier. Kenya lost out with me when she proved to be such a liar. I just can’t take liars.

Probably not much. I was just stating a fact in response to another post. Jayne was in the Miss America pageant and she didn’t win but made history by being in the pageant.

Nope. Jayne Kennedy was Miss USA. That was the first time I had seen a Black Miss USA. And she represented her in the States with that crown. We, our arts Council had her in our City when she was associated with Coca~Cola, as a guest to assist us in a fundraiser. I would suggest that you find that information in any facts about the then Jayne Kennedy, Miss USA. She ten went on to become a sports caster. Check it out. These are the facts. And not only was she more poised and beautiful, she was also very nice.

I stand corrected on the Miss America pageant. Jayne was Miss Ohio USA and was a semi-finalist in the Miss USA pageant. She did not win the pageant and she did not compete in Miss Black America or Miss Black anything. Like you suggested I researched and found that information online. I think you should follow suit. I agree she was very nice and I grew up with her in Ohio. Her cousin was my best friend and I know her whole family including aunts and uncles. In high school she was always sweet and so unassuming. Leon Kennedy went to my high school although I didn’t really know him then. He was a DJ on WJMO in Cleveland back in the day and that’s how he met Jayne. IJS

So you are well aware of what I am saying about the down fall of expectations in that contest???? I know when I met her, she was very nice, poised, queenly but down to earth. Those are qualities that are not at all attributed to Kenya, as far as I see. I am, however, glad to see that she has exfoliated her grainy looking skin that makes her look a bit cleaner. But her attitude, I just don’t think that she has or ever will have one that would endear people to her. As I said before, she is such a liar……..I can’t abide lying people and that has been my main reason for not liking her. To some on the site, she’s pretty…….to me//////Pretty is as Pretty does………AND SHE DOESN’T

Miss America just competes among the US for each state. Miss USA competes with the ladies from the rest of the world to represent the US. Jayne became the first woman of colour from America to compete. I have included a link from facts below. There is also a picture that shows how much more poised and elegant that this Kenya who defiles that crown.

Is it too weird to ask for details? I went to school with a dude who met Phylicia in the green room on the Dave Letterman show. She assumed he was the help (wasn’t, don’t know where she got the idea), but she was only asking for a snack (that was nearby) so he didn’t bother to correct her and thought, ‘Why not?’. From what I got out of hearing about the interaction, she sounded imperious in the way that she seemed to presume that she would have to go through ‘this’ again with the underlings. So, not exactly rude, but seemingly dreading having to interact with the little people because she expects to them being stupid and uncouth and so she spoke to him like he was a naughty child who had to be set straight preemptively. She sounded like a ‘poise hard’ (just made that up) who needed everyone to know how elegant and refined she was.

We were at the NAACP Image Awards. The filming was over and she and her people were standing still for a moment. I looked up at her all starry eyed and said hi. She looked through me. That was her signal to brush past me and the crowd. She was far too important to mingle with the little people (years after Cosby had ended). There was this dramatic exit like they were the secret service and she was Michelle. I could hear adults grumbling that her entourage had almost knocked them over. Jasmine Guy didnt speak either and we were in the ladies room. Dr. Dre put his hand up to my 12 yr old face and said, “Ho!” Then walked away.

As a child, I used to want to know more about my faves and I would wonder why interviewers always asked the same old questions that I had heard all the answers to. Also, I was so sick of hearing that Tracey was Babyfaces first wife when I remember the Right On magazine article in which he said that he was married. Thanks to LSA and anonymous bloggers online I know the truth.

I can’t stand Kenya Moore. When she says that “People try to figure her out”, I want to know who those people are. She’s shown everybody that she is willing to do ANYTHING to be seen on screen, even if it’s the small one. And she sold out both Keisha and the other actress. She will never reach that standard that either of those women have. And I was glad that Keisha wouldn’t call Dr. Cosby for money for that orangetang, Trump.
