Oh Happy Day! ‘Being Mary Jane’ Will Return For a Fourth Season

Being Mary Jane fans rejoice! Mary Jane Paul and her drama will return to BET for another season!

The show has been a ratings boon for the network, averaging around 2.1 million viewers and ranking among the top five scripted cable shows each week. Although BMJ creator Mara Brock Akil signed a deal with Warner Brothers over the summer and will leave BET, the show will go on.

Stephen Hill, BET’s president of programming, announced the fourth season of Being Mary Jane will begin production later this year, and we can’t wait. Brock Akil won’t be back as BMJ’s showrunner, but she has agreed to stay on as the series’ “executive consultant.”

While we’re SUPER excited for the show’s return (season 3 left of hanging in the worst way!), we hope Being Mary Jane will continue to be a great show once Brock Akil passes the torch.

    I watched but for the life of me, I don’t remember a “cliffhanger”. (season 3 left of hanging in the worst way!)

      @B Cooper

      I was thinking the same thing. It just popped in my head— the show ended with the cop pulling a taser on Niecey.
