Former NBA Player Gilbert Arenas is a Jerk, Thinks the WNBA Needs More ‘Cutie Pies’ In Thongs On the Court

061715-Sports-Gilbert-Arenas

Former NBA star Gilbert Arenas clearly has way too much time on his hands. While he’s been out of the league for the past few years, Arenas still loves to chat about his former sport on social media.

Tuesday, the unmarried father of four took to Instagram to show everyone just how big of a sexist jerk he is when he suggested the WNBA should recruit more thong-clad “cutie pies” to its ranks to boost viewership.

“NOW this is what america was hoping for when they announced the #WNBA back in 1996… not a bunch of chicks running around looking like, cast members from #orangeisthenewblack…dont get me wrong, they have few #cutiepies but theres a whole alotta #beanpies running around,” Areas wrote under a video he shared depicting a group of half-naked women playing basketball.

Female athletes have a difficult enough time being taken seriously without folks like Arenas reducing their skills, hard work, and talent to looks.

Arenas attempted to dismiss those who think he’s (rightly) sexist as “ugly,” but three-time WNBA champion, Swin Cash, had the best response ever.

Go Swin!

He needs to worry more about all of the children he fathered with side chicks outside of his steady relationships. I wonder when he last spent quality time with Kniko (Draya’s son)?

Swim Cash mentioned what ought to be mentioned. Arenas is wrong on so many levels. First, women have the right to express their talents and not to fulfill the sexist desires of Arenas. He ought to feel ashamed of himself for disrespecting what the WNBA stands for. The WNBA is about giving qualified, talented women the opportunity to play basketball in the national and international stage. Arenas’ post is very evident of his colorism since many of these celebrities are overt colorists and misogynists. Shaming women is evil. Regardless of a woman’s physical appearance, she should be treated with dignity and with respect. Talent and hard work (not the fetishizing of women) ought to be promoted in any athletic endeavor. We all encourage any WNBA player to keep up the great work in the court and outside of the court (as tons of WNBA players are involved in charities, and other progressive programs that are helping human beings).

I almost agree with Gilbert Arena, if the WNBA had more Cutie Pies [maybe without the thongs] the league would become more popular and they would have more paying fans and make more money, Gilbert Arena is just none political correct right y’all.

Why is a woman’s talent always reduced to how “cute” she is? Ugly women play sports too, deal with it.
I’ve seen a ton of ugly men on the field, yet all people care about is how fast they run, how high they jump and how good they can shove someone to the ground. Why can’t men focus on that when it comes to women?

I like women track and field and women tennis however women basketball is not a good product even women don’t like women basketball, they can’t play as good as men however women tennis is better than men tennis, quit looking for sexism where it doesn’t exist.

Then maybe they need more dynamic players and more superstars that can generate press and attention both on andoff the court and this has nothing to do with how attractive they are. Male sports aren’t full of attractive men and people watch and support it in droves due to merging the talents with the public aspect of the game.

“how the media and entertainment industry needs to be fair in there coverage of women’s sports or more money being given to women’s sports” it’s not a question of fairness or more media coverage THEY JUST CAN’T PLAY GOOD BASKETBALL there are something women do better than men and there are somethings men do better than women plain and simple to me women tennis is better than men tennis that’s why I don’t watch men tennis, it is what it is and women basketball is just not good basketball.”Male sports aren’t full of attractive men and people watch, invest and support it in droves.” that’s because men are natural gladiators men are bigger stronger and faster and that’s why men and WOMEN PAY GOOD MONEY TO SEE MEN PREFORM. AGAIN THEIR ARE THINGS WOMEN CAN DO THAT MEN CAN NEVER DO IN SOME WAYS WOMEN ARE A “GOD” SHE CAN sustain life for over 22 months and man can never do that life is not life is fair if we operate in the nature god created of other wise it will be seen as unfair.

Lisa Leslie was a legend including Sheryl Swoopes. They can play basketball very well. Also, there are many talented women in the WNBA and in leagues worldwide. Men on average are bigger than women, but that means that both sexes have different phenotypes and different genetics. Differences in phenotypes doesn’t mean that men have a superior human value than women. Men and women are still human beings. All humans are created equal. Being equal doesn’t mean everyone is identical. That means that all human beings are created with the same human value and should be treated with equality, respect, and justice. The more some folks are concerned with the talent of athletics than promoting a sexist agenda, the better off society will be. There should be justice for men and women. Many people don’t like that concept, but that concept has stood the test of time. To this very day, there are amazing players in the NBA and in the WNBA.

No syllable from anyone on this Earth can refute that. Also, there is greatness in a lot of women basketball.

IF YOU don’t think they can’t play good basketball then just say that. But to say they need to be more attractive or half naked to get people’s attention or to be interesting is false AND sexism. There are plenty of sports leagues and associations with bikini this and lingerie that and they aren’t ranking in the viewership, fans and dough so that assumption has been proven false. You need more than being “attraction” for viewers to tune into women’s sport and like it or not there is a gap between women and men’s sport that IS unfair from a business and media standpoint. Hell, Ronda Rousey isn’t a beauty queen but she brought something special to make people tune into women’s UFC, people clown Serena Williams on the daily about her looks and appearance but her talents and attitude caught people attention while on the same token you had Anna Kournikova who people deemed a knockout but people didn’t take her seriously at all. This has nothing to do with men are better ant this and women are better at that but the sexism overtone concerning women.

In this case, Trueletterson, sexism does exist because he reduced these women (regardless of talent) to how they look. Like Raze said, there are a lot of unattractive athletes, but they are never demoted for that.

he might had exaggerated a bit but by in large he was telling the truth. I mean come on I don’t pay attention to how a male athlete look but as a man I do pay attention to how women look because I have a natural attraction and affinity towards women and this brother is not ashamed of it, call it sexism or what ever it is what it is and I make no apology for it and is not ashamed of it, I go to professional baseball games and you can not tell me that most of those women who set down there in them high dollar seats by the dugout are there because they love baseball because that would be untrue because they do not love baseball they love men, they are there because they come to look at and flirt with those baseball players, I go to football training camps Redskins, Bengals and Eagles and all those young girls driving hundreds of miles to training camp are not there because they love football they are there looking at and flirting with those football players and the same way with professional basketball after the game you should see them line up outside waiting for the players to come out drive by to flirt with them, and when I go to a professional football game of course I go to watch football but at half time I do not get out of my seat because that’s when the show began, that when them pretty cheerleaders take the field and put on a show and I love it and ain’t ashamed to say it, I love watching them pretty women dance to the beat, it is what it is and no new word like sexism can shame us and get it out of our nature because there is nothing wrong with us sexism or not. what y’all call sexism often times is natural is a good thing in both male and female that operating in the nature god created us and we are comfortable in that way and we ain’t going to change because of the new PC culture try to force us to change because it in our nature and it is GOOD. Peace sister.

I don’t believe you. I also don’t think that your problem with the WNBA is their lack of dynamic game play. Basketball is basketball no one is changing the rules or playing differently you can pretend that your problem is with the game but every time you come on to try to convince people that your problem is the game you go back to talking about a woman’s looks which has not a damn thing to do with how the game is played. You even basically admitted that your interest in Serena Williams is not her excellent skills on the tennis court but how she affects your boner.

The women playing these sports do not care about your erection (and neither do those of us here either I might add) and to reduce these women to whether or not you deem them good looking enough to put up with the sport they’re playing is sexist bullshit.

Your claim of not being politically correct is the same bullshit white people pull when they get called out on saying bigoted shit. It doesn’t convince anyone that you’re a free thinker it makes people think you’re asshole.

Then your blatant sexism removes all doubt.

Gilbert Arenas is no prize in the looks department himself.

So Mr Arenas, if I had my choice someone with your looks (or lack of therein), wouldn’t even be considered for a try out on and NBA team.
Now if the NBA would only raise there standards on players looks and recruit the more of likes of

    Corey Maggette
    Chris Paul
    Rick Fox
    Tony Parker

Why every woman here would be happy.

I’ve had about all I can take from these “I can say, what I want dudes!” but if you dare mention where they themselves are found to be . . . . . wanting, they have a fit.

Mr Arenas, please have several seats and go take care of your children.
