Janelle Monáe Releases ‘Yoga’ Video & Claps Back On Twitter

Do not come for Janelle Monáe, because she will clap back. Yesterday a user on Twitter thought he’d share his two cents with Janelle, but quickly learned she’s not having it.

The tweet he sent Janelle (from his now private account) said: “girl stop being so soulful and be sexy..tired of those dumbass suits..you fine but u too damn soulful man.”

And pow:

On top of that, Janelle has just released her new video for her single “Yoga”. It’s full of soulful Namaste’ish and exudes woman power. “Yoga” is a single from Eephus, a compilation from Monáe’s Wondaland label, due out May 6.

Lol it kills me when guys are so dumb but people on twitter lack social skills anyways. Like what made him think it was okay to say that to her? Like she was going to stop wearing suits suddenly he made her see the light

I just hope Janelle Monae gets a really big hit. She has a ton of talent. Since this Yoga talks about booties and she is wearing a sports bra, it might get some of the AirPlay that she did not get wearing suits and dancing like James Brown.

As for her image not being for male consumption. I don’t care. There are so many naked and near naked women I the media these days, even the biggest dog on earth can make do with one notable entertainer keeping her pants and shirt on.

I’m just astounded that neither ‘Tightrope’ or ‘Dance Apocalyptic’ NOR ‘Q.U.E.E.N.’ didn’t make her bigger.Sadly I’ve heard her being dismissed as ‘weird’ or ‘corny’ on urban blogs. WHY? And how ridiculous was the guy at Media Take out (I know) took her great tweet response as an admission to being gay. Really, Fred?

20 yrs ago, she would’ve been killing it. that’s when r&b was pulling in big bucks before it totally merged w/hip-hop & became “urban music”. back then, folks were into the story line in the music as much as the sound. now it’s all about the beat/bass & catchy chorus.

To be honest, I believe she is gay, but that has got nothing to do with her music. If my mother could like Johnny Mathis and my wife likes Luther Vandross, why can’t I enjoy Janelle Monae? I know for a fact that I absolutely loved Michelle N’Degeocello back in the Nineties, and it is hard to be more openly gay than her.

Yeah I love her and I don’t care who she loves. I think her music is great and I love her style.

She responded in the right way to the hater. She is always creative. Janelle Monae follows her own originality. Her expression of her gifts in a unapologetic way is her strength. She has the right to wear suits. That’s her business and her right. Also, her video is creative. She’s a very intelligent, soulful person. I wish the best for her.
