Wendy Williams Gets In Her Feelings When Mack Wilds Says He Loves Dark-Skinned Girls

Fresh off our discussion on colorism, Wendy Williams comes forth as a real live example of why this issue just won’t die in our community. Speaking with her guest, Mack Wilds, Wendy got nosy like she normally does, asking the singer/actor if he and Sevyn Streeter, who he’s been seen hugged up on in the past, were ever romantically involved. When Mack said they’re just “really, really good friends” the queen of daytime gossip pressed the issue further, commenting on how pretty the singer is to just be his friend, which then led to this back and forth.

“I love dark-skinned girls, so, you know, she’s definitely one of them,” Mack said.

That’s when Wendy, unable to understand the plight of the brown-skinned beauty, retorted with: “Who’s talking about complexion? You see this is where my people go in a conversation. Really?

Mack took the opportunity to add a little context, saying, “It’s just, I don’t know, my mom is brown-skinned so I just have a thing about all the different colors that women come in.”

And then Wendy promptly told him, “You don’t have to explain it, you’re adorable.”

Oh Wendy, the one time a black man in Hollywood actually shows dark-skinned black women love in a public forum you want to shut him down? You should know the significance of what he said in an industry where half the black men aren’t even checking for sistas, let alone dark-skinned ones, sadly. You gotta do better boo boo.

    What do you really expect from Wendy Williams? Do you want her to be the leader for African-Americans? You want her to be the feminist that black women need?
    Wendy is not as mature as she looks and that has been proven countless times.

    That he said that should be a hint. Don’t spend your money on foolishness.

    I love Wendell, she is funny because she is just a bitter bird who stays relevant by other people feeding off the slander she dishes out. She knows she is jacked up in the head, she admits it so don’t expect her to be more than a rich, hot mess.

    Everyone has a preference be it tall, short, light, dark, other. The problem is when you are an actor or maybe sports person and you voice what you like and alienate all of your fans that don’t fit the mold.

    No one, including Wendy, would have seen anything wrong with a white man saying he loves women with a tan. But let a black man says he likes dark skinned black women and people are going to find a reason to be mad. I’m glad this isn’t yet another story of a young black man saying something disparaging about black women or stating a preference of black women who barely loom black.

    I am a light-skinned woman.. I love dark skin men, and I find dark skinned women to be thee MOST BEAUTIFUL WOMEN EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You know why??? Because, my mama is a dark skinned woman and she was told her whole life she wasn’t pretty enough, her hair wasn’t long enough etc, etc.. When I was about 10 years old I remember putting my arm against my moms and saying, “Mommy I wish I was your color” She looked confused and told me to love the skin I’m in… But, when I tuned 20 my mother reminded of what I said and it made her feel good… Up until this day I LOVE DARK SKIN. If I were a male, I would have the baddest chocolate chick! LOL

      My friend, who is light-skinned, has a girl crush on Lupia Nyongo. She said she wished she had that beautiful, smooth, brown skin. I prefer darker-skinned men too. There’s something about that melanin that stands out, but I think all hues of Black are beautiful as we are beautiful and strong people.

        I certainly have a crush on Carmelita Jeter. Lupita Nyong’o is a beautiful woman inside and out. All hues of Blackness is beautiful indeed. Melanin is a powerful entity from the Creator.

    Please. I hate when black women get over excited when they hear black men say they love black women, particularly dark skin women.That doesn’t mean they want a dark skinned woman to be their partner for life. Many black men in Hollywood have said that and are currently hooked up with light, bright and damn near white.

      @Cassie

      Maybe best to look at what some of the black men in your own universe like instead of Hollywood.

    Everyone has the right to their preferences. The deal is that anyone who disrespects a woman unfairly or falsely stereotypes black women is wrong. What Mack Wilds said is his own business. I am attracted to dark skinned black people too. Dark skinned black women are gorgeous and very beautiful just like black women of other hues as well. Whether we are light, brown, or dark, we are one black people. As one Sister here has mentioned, Black Love has been slandered. The truth is that Black Love is beautiful and it’s the first human love in human history. Also, Black Love continues to exist in the Americas and throughout the world from Lagos to Paris. Wendy Williams has been involved with controversies for years and decades. It is what it is. I don’t agree with Wendy on a host of issues.

        Wendy Williams is certainly known for trying to be as racial neutral as possible in her commentaries. She knows that if she crosses that line, her backer would reject her. It is certainly great for a Brother to share his love for the Sisters in public.

            It’s sad, but true about Wendy Williams. She was worse during the 1990’s when she was calling many black people every name but a child of God. She was the one who was bullied as a teenager and now she has bullied others back in the day and even recently. So, her story is a lesson on what we should never do. We always believe in treating people fairly while checking folks who are wrong.

    Wendy seems like a blow up doll programmed to think a certain way and to say certain things. She doesn’t seem transparent; thus, she always appeared fake to me. I never liked her because she throws shade, but when it’s directed at her, she gets all in her feelings.

    Are we still surprised? We all know Wendy Williams is full of coonery and buffoonery when it comes to Black people, particularly Black women. Hence why I pay her dust. Wilde’s is adorable, and his dating preference comes as no surprise.

    I’m dark-skinned, and I agree, why bring up complexion? Is it guilt due to the love interests in his videos not reflecting that? All he had to say is that Sevyn is gorgeous. If his mom is obese, should he be tied to big women? My dad is short, I want a tall guy. I get what Wendy meant. Why do we have to point out complexion? Cause if he said, “Solange look good, I love light skin girls” Everyone would yell boycott. Dark skin and beauty are not a unicorn, so there’s no need to point it out. We dark girls are not charity cases. But if I were single, I’d hit him up, lol.

      @TastyTaco

      I have to agree with you, Taco. As a richly melinated woman myself, i always felt some type of way when men were compelled to tell me “ya know, I only date dark skinned women” as if he were special or something. Like he was doing me a favor. It didn’t always feel like a compliment but instead it felt like charity.

    I am perplex about this issue because from my experience I found out once you get into a women her skin tone doesn’t matter because you are into the individual, the essence of her not her skin tone, cause once you get into that women whether she is dark skin or light skinned it become the essence of her so I can’t quite rap my head around this dark skin light skin stuff because I have been crazy about both dark skin women and light skin women can some one help me please.

    This thing still has a TV show. She is made up of vile and plastic, yet she has the audacity to talk about others. I’m not surprised she got in her feels as she is one of those if she could would change her colour in a heartbeat, she would reinvent herself as the beckiest of all becky’s. Like ugh with your coonin self Wendy, you keep playing into the hand of your white puppet masters. I’m light skinned and I love when I see black men talk about dark skinned women as something they love as it is now become a rare occurrence. I often wish my skin was darker as I think it is so beautiful and the colours you could pull off a whole lot better, but alas I will always be an advocate for my dark-skinned sista’s. I have had my fair share of men that would put me on pedastool but refuse to to talk to my darker skinned friends. I’m actually surprised Mack likes the darker skinned ladies. I spent the whole of 90210 wishing they would introduce a permanennt black female for him, I got tired of him sucking lips with the Ashley’s and the Mary-Kates’s
