Giuliana Rancic Says Her ‘Fashion Police’ Comments Were Edited Wrong

Giuiliana Rancic is now speaking out publicly about comments she said regarding Zendaya Coleman’s dreadlock extensions. During an appearance on The Today Show, Rancic said the whole segment was edited wrong.

If you recall, Rancic stated that Coleman’s dreadlocks look as though they smelled like weed and patchouli oil.

“You know, I made a reference to the hippie culture,” she said. “I talked about patchouli oil, which is a hippie perfume. And in the editing process, some of the gestures I made, some of the things I said were taken out for time. I made peace signs, I said ‘bohemian’ twice — those were taken out for time. So when the joke aired, some people were offended by it.”

“There were about 40 people in the studio audience, but in addition, there were about 40 people — executives, cast members, hair and makeup — [there]. Not one person said anything,” she recalled. “It wasn’t a live show; it was taped. We had several hours to fix it. The editors, the producers, no one saw anything wrong because when they heard the joke, it was truly a joke about the hippie culture.”

Rancic made it clear that she’s not racist.

“I find racism reprehensible,” Rancic explained. “I don’t tolerate it at all. Nor have I ever. I think that’s really important for me to get that out there, because that’s been the hardest part of all of this — that someone could believe that I actually … would have racial undertones in the things that I do. Absolutely not.”

But she believes she understands why others saw things differently.

“I see why people took offense,” Rancic said. “I thought that the joke was not edited in the proper way, and that’s just something I have to live with. It’s very important for me to just get out there and tell the real story, and I knew I would have my moment. But those darn headlines were so crazy for so long that I thought, ‘Let everything calm down, and then I can come out and tell the real story.'”

Since Rancic’s joke, The Fashion Police has completely disbanded, after Kelly Osbourne and Kathy Griffin departed. News hosts have yet to be announced.

The Oscars were February 22nd. Fashion Police taped and the comment was said on February 23rd. Why all of a sudden on April 7th, Guiliana comes out to say that the comment was edited wrong. Why bring so many nameless people that the public could not care about to share in the blame? Deal with the fallout and move on, we get it. You’re not racist, yet you are a coward. The words came out of your mouth regardless of editing or gestures you made referring to hippie culture. She must really be in hot water to bring this back up now. I have to assume the fact that she said that Jerry O’Connell cheated on her with Geri Halliwell or the fact that she is so skinny is because of cancer medication (even though she has always been this size) did not put her back in public favor…… I would suggest getting Judy Smith to do damage control, but odds are Judy would tell her to fess up and admit guilt and someone as prideful as Guiliana cannot do such a thing.

It’s more like i tolerated racist until i got caught. Now I’m a victim, boohoo. This is the same song and dance people have been using to not make themselves look like a azzhole

I normally hate judging people’s physical appearance but how did she get this job in the first place? Imo, she’s not qualified to do the “fashion police”. She’s not that fine, and her fashion style is questionable too.

After the fact. Why is she still talking about this?

Rancic said what she said. She omitted that she talked about “weed” in reference to a woman of color’s hair.

What I do find is that the racists readily use deflection after the fact as a means to try to justify their behavior or comments. This is what Giuliana Rancic is doing. One label that a white person hates to be called is a “racist.” White people can tolerate being called many names, but the label of racist is one of the few labels that they abhor being called. Guiliana is obviously trying to savage her reputation and she is trying her best to not be fired from E! There is no other specific reason why she is doing this except for attempting to maintain her job. Obviously, she doesn’t care about the human dignity of Zandaya, because if she did, she would have never made such disrespectful comments in the first place. Rancic is not a victim. She has privilege and when she was caught in her actions, then she is trying to sugarcoat her own evil comments. She needs to realize her mistake and move on.
