Amber Rose Reveals Some Family Didn’t Attend Her Wedding to Wiz Khalifa Because He’s African-American

Amber Rose recently shared in an interview for the documentary “Light Girls,” which premieres tonight on OWN at 9 p.m. est — that some of her family did not attend her 2013 wedding to Wiz Khalifa because he is African-American.

Rose, 31, who is half Italian, half Cape Verdean, revealed that some of her relatives missed seeing her big day because they felt like their race [Creole] was “more superior or better” than African-Americans.

She also suggested that some of her family members think African-Americans lack “culture” — which is a common uneducated opinion and misconception other races/ethnicities/backgrounds use when discussing African-Americans and culture.

“With my family, they feel like they’re more superior or better than an African-American because we’re Creole and we have culture and that’s something I battle with most of my life.” It’s more of the older people in my family.

“It’s such a sensitive subject that it’s hard to explain yourself without sounding mean or bitter or angry, but I am,” she shared. “I’m angry that my family is like that and they want to pass so bad that they raise my mom and my uncles and my aunts to not fully know their culture.”

“Our younger generation, we’ve embraced it so much and I feel like that’s why my father is white.”

Make sure to check out Light Girls premiering tonight at 9 p.m. EST only on OWN.

Out of all the reasons to not attend and see her wed him, because he’s black. Not because he’s a sleezy rapper. OK then…

The whole creole concept confuses the hell out of me so I don’t care but this did remind me of when my mom went to New Orleans and got so many stares and questioned by the locals because you were either black white or creole and shes brown. Kinda made me want to see it firsthand.

      Ignorance has no logic.

I always laugh when people claim we don’t have culture. I don’t laugh because I think it’s funny; I laugh because of the pure unadulterated ignorance of some people, especially people of color who believe they are superior. I often ask, what has your race contributed to the people of this world? Then I see what Blacks have contributed, AND what others have stolen or piggy backed off of, so I leave people like her family to their own stupidity, shake my head, and realize their die stupid.

Yeah that always bothers me, like the nerve. Our people made strives for minorities in America where they can get more of the pie than us. We influence so much that’s the only thing they’ll consume while shun.

      Exactly Sister.

African Americans have a rich, extensive culture. Everyday, I learn something new about an African American inventor or another great contributor to society. Our culture doesn’t just deal with music. Our culture deals with art, literature, science, engineering, theology, legal matters, sociology, etc. Racism is a product of hatred, misinformation, and deception. It is not surprising to witness those who hate black Americans, but want to try to imitate black people. We’re hated by many, but we are still here. Nothing will turn us around.

Yes, brother! We were the first people. When White folks were in their caves grunting, we were king and queens. We taught them mathematics, language, the arts, and everything else you mentioned. They came here and took what they wanted and elevated themselves. They’ve made themselves gods, and taught people like Amber’s family that they are a “step above.” Please!

No, no, no. Nothing will turn us around, and those who have tried to torment us, rob us, rape us, and kill us will one day have to pay with their own blood.

I love how you keep it all the way 100 Sister.

It is a historical fact that black people are the first humans on Earth. We are a very compassionate people, but when we are threaten, then we will stand up for our humanity as Brothers and Sisters. That is why it is important to focus our energies on helping each other and to reject the evils of materialism, nihilism, and selfishness. At the end of the day, the poor of our people need inspiration and justice. Our people made contributions in all of the fields that you have outlined. That is why others may mimic us, but we can never be duplicated. White racists have created a false image of superiority among themselves. This false image has been rejected more and more by black people.

The evils actions of white racists will never stop us, because truth is always superior to lies and fiction. Amber telling the accurate story about some of her family members is not new. Many racist people exist globally. That is why we should not only promote love, but justice too. Justice deals with accountability and a radical change in society whereby the system of racism is extinguished. That is a goal which we all seek. We want humanity to be free from oppression and injustice.

Her family makes me laugh tho, with all the things their precious Amber Rose do, being a stripper, struggle twerking on instagram etc… they were worried about their Portuguese culture with a hint of African one hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm. I am not even American nor live there but most of today youth culture is heavily influenced by AA culture.

So I’m not the only one who thought this as well. The girl stays naked and flaunting her body, but they’re turning their nose up at someone else…Interesting.

I believe Kanye West filled her head with a lot of nonsense and that is partly why she’s so stupid. She has looks but she better save her coins because once she looses them that will be all she wrote

So they are ok that their daughter is a stripper and golddigger but not her rapper husband? Oh, ok.

Hell, she is not even married to Wiz anymore, why should anyone care who didn’t come to her wedding? I could not be bothered with a woman whose family thinks it is better than I am. Gripping that high yellow ass ain’t worth my pride!
