Teen Battling Cancer Gets Big Surprise for Prom From Celebrity Stylist Tokyo Stylez

Last November, Hannah Tate was diagnosed with a rare form of kidney cancer and has been undergoing chemotherapy treatments. The high-school senior figured that she wouldn’t be able to attend prom because of all of the other activities she’s missed at school.

“I’ve missed my whole year, my whole senior year. So I mean it was hard missing basketball, and track, and dance and everything,” said Tate.

But that was before celebrity stylist Tokyo Stylez, the stylist to artists such as Rihanna, Gabrielle Union and Naomi Campbell, stepped in.

Hannah reached out to the stylist on Instagram and asked him if he could find her a wig, since she’s lost her hair. But he did better than that.

From WATE:

On Saturday afternoon, just a few hours before prom, there was a knock at Tate’s door. “It took me a second to realize it was him at first, like to actually believe it,” said Tate. Standing in her doorway was Tokyo Stylez and his team.

“They told me that they wanted to come in and present the wig to her, but they wanted it to be a surprise,” said Tate’s mom, LaVetta Span.

The Senior got the full celebrity treatment: hair and makeup, and a brand new wig. “She teared up a cried a little bit. I didn’t want her to because I didn’t want to cry,” said Stylez. “It’s like a once in a lifetime thing. You only go to your senior prom once, so to be a part of it is something that she’ll always remember.”

Hannah said the makeover was more than she could ever hope for!

“It just makes me smile. It makes me happy,” Hannah said.

It’s heartbreaking that someone so young is stricken with cancer. What the hell are they putting in our food? Glad she can rock out her prom. Really hope she makes a full recovery.

This is a great, positive story. This is what we’re called here to do. We’re called to help others and I do hope that the young Sister experiences a full recovery. The teenager going to the prom is great news (as the prom deals with fun, developing social ties with people, and having a sense of celebration nearing the end of high school).

Bless Hannah Tate and her family.
